Erie Bridge for EZLynx — Chrome Extension

1. Introduction

Erie Bridge for EZLynx ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps insurance agents generate Erie Insurance home quotes using data exported from EZLynx. It also keeps Erie Agent Exchange sessions active by periodically refreshing portal tabs in a user-designated browser window. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data Collection

The Extension collects and stores the following data locally on your device:

• License key: Stored in Chrome's local storage on your device to verify your subscription.
• Settings: Your Erie agent code, default deductible, and default liability preferences. Stored locally.
• Extension ID: Used to establish communication between the web app and the extension. Stored locally.
• Watched window ID: The Chrome window ID you designate for session keep-alive. This is a temporary numeric value stored locally.
• Session status: Whether your Erie portal session is active or expired. Stored locally for display in the extension popup.

3. Data Transmission

The Extension transmits the following data:

• License key: Sent to our validation server (hosted on Google Cloud Functions) to verify your subscription is active.
• Quote data: Parsed XML data from EZLynx is sent from the web app to the extension, which then fills the Erie Agent Exchange quote form in your browser. This data travels only between the web app tab and the extension on your local machine, and to Erie Agent Exchange (agentexchange.com) as normal form input.

No other data is transmitted. Specifically:

• We do NOT collect browsing history
• We do NOT collect the content of any web pages other than Erie Agent Exchange quote results
• We do NOT collect personally identifiable information beyond what is associated with your license key purchase
• We do NOT use cookies or tracking technologies
• We do NOT share any data with third parties
• We do NOT transmit tab URLs, titles, or any page content to our servers

4. Permissions Explained

The Extension requires these Chrome permissions:

• storage: To save your license key, settings, and session status locally on your device.
• tabs: To open and navigate Erie Agent Exchange tabs during quoting, and to refresh portal tabs for session keep-alive.
• scripting: To fill form fields and read quote results on Erie Agent Exchange pages.
• alarms: To schedule periodic session keep-alive refreshes (every 5 minutes).
• notifications: To alert you if your Erie session expires so you can log back in.
• offscreen: To maintain the extension's background process between keep-alive cycles.
• host_permissions (agentexchange.com, erieinsurance.com): To interact with Erie websites for quoting and session monitoring.

The Extension only activates on agentexchange.com and erieinsurance.com. It does not run on any other websites.

5. Session Keep-Alive Feature

The session keep-alive feature periodically refreshes Erie portal tabs in a user-designated Chrome window to prevent session timeouts. This is done entirely locally within your browser. No session data, cookies, or authentication tokens are transmitted to our servers. Tab URLs are checked locally and never sent externally.

6. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. No customer data, quote data, or personal information is stored on our servers.

7. Data Retention

Your settings and license key remain in Chrome's local storage until you:

• Uninstall the Extension
• Clear your browser data

8. Your Rights

You can delete all Extension data at any time by uninstalling the Extension, which removes all locally stored data.

9. Third-Party Services

The Extension uses Google Cloud Functions for license validation. Google's privacy policy applies to the infrastructure hosting our validation endpoint. No user data beyond the license key is processed by this service.

10. Children's Privacy

This Extension is designed for use by insurance professionals and is not intended for children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
